Golf Tournament Nutrition and Hydration Guide
Share
Tournament day is the wrong time to improvise. The best plan is one you have already practiced during normal rounds.
The Night Before
Eat normally, drink fluids, and avoid turning tournament preparation into an extreme nutrition experiment. Familiar routines reduce surprises.
Before Your Tee Time
Have a meal you tolerate well and arrive hydrated. Pack enough water and food for the full round rather than relying on the beverage cart.
During the Front Nine
Sip fluids consistently and use a small snack if needed. The goal is steady intake, not waiting until you feel depleted.
At the Turn
Check three things: fluid, food, and caffeine. Refill your bottle, eat if you need it, and avoid stacking more caffeine than you planned.
During the Back Nine
Keep the routine boring and consistent. Tournament pressure is already variable enough; your hydration and fueling strategy should not be.
After the Round
Continue drinking, eat a normal meal, and recover before the next day of play if the event continues.
